Reading: Can You Do Scrum without a Product Owner?

If you don’t have a backlog that’s been influenced by the business, you’re merely going through the motions Agile. If the backlog items don’t result in working tested product at the end of the sprint, then it doesn’t matter how good you are at the ceremonies of Scrum or any other methodology. So, what does it take to ensure that your backlogs are filled with stories that are meaningful to the business and result in working tested product? Ideally, it’s a Product Owner. But if you don’t have one, you’re going to need to somehow fill the void between the delivery team and the business to get the type of backlog you need.
